Sheep

Shear me from my body. Shave down to the quick.

Put me into drawstring bags and take me out at home. Wash me clean and brush me into smooth long strands.

Then feed me slow into your spinning wheel and mix with blue and red and gold.

Spool me into balls of twine. Plan me out and project me. Wrap me tight around your set of long wooden knitting needles and leave me long forgotten.

Finish me with scissors. Wear me when you’re cold. Bury your face in my soft scratchy wool and breathe in the lingering scent of you.
