Kiss

Butterfly land on my eyelashes. Whisper to me.

Wind tangle my hair in your fingers. Sun wrap me up ‘til I’m warm. Coffee wake me gently in the morning.

Bird sing that same line again. Annoy me.

Tree tilt my eyes up to yours. Mosquito suck the marrow from my bones. Leaf crunch, snap beneath my boot.

Ground hold me up. Cradle me.

Grass feel me pull at the root. River let me drink ‘til I’m done. Rain hit my skin with your hands.

Dirt kiss the fingers I press down on your skin. Let me leave marks and endure.
