5:01 – Birds and brightening sky. Rustle and groan. …do you have to get up yet… Arms tightening around waists. Warm skin, cold pillow, cozy sheets. It’s so easy to fall back asleep. Forget the tossing and turning from the night before.

7:23 – Where did the time go? Impossibly tangled limbs, blaring sun, dozens of snoozed alarms.

9:17 – Half promises. …do you want coffee… Well intentioned. …I’ll make you breakfast…

All of this until one breaks free, dragging the other along. The kicking and screaming of …I’m up, I’m up… and closed tight eyes. Sleep lines and drool on the pillow.
